Equipment Donation Program
How our program works:
Equipment Connections for Children serves families living in Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia who have exhausted all other options for getting the equipment that they need. Through our Equipment Donation Program, ECFC receives donated equipment from families who no longer need these items. These items are then cleaned and disinfected, checked for proper operating condition, and generally refurbished. The items are then uploaded to our inventory page where families in need can request the items free of charge and schedule a time to pick up the equipment. The family can then take the equipment to their care provided to be fitted to their child and to be educated on its proper use.
Once you no longer need the item, you can schedule an appointment to bring it back for another family to use!
You can read more under Terms and Conditions.
* Please note: the person responsible for the child and the equipment needs to create an account, agree to the terms and conditions, and fill out the application. While it is acceptable to assist a family in the application process, we request that case managers do not create accounts for their clients and order for them. We do not loan equipment to other organizations, only families in need.
To request equipment:
To drop off equipment that you are returning or want to donate, please choose your date and time and fill out the equipment donation form. If you are picking up and dropping off on the same day, make sure to choose the same date and time for both. We are able to make drop off and pickup appointments on Thursdays and Fridays 9:30-2:00. The appointments are in 15 minute increments.

To request equipment:
- In order to reserve an item, you must first create an account by clicking on “create an account”. If you already have an account, click “log in”. You may need to create a new account as we recently migrated to a new system. You will then be taken to your account page. You will need to confirm your email address before your account is activated. Once activated, you can go back to the inventory page to reserve items.
- Locate the item needed in our online inventory. Click on the item to see information about that item. You can then add the item to your shopping cart by clicking "reserve". Proceed to your shopping cart once you are ready to check out by clicking the shopping cart icon.
- You must choose an appropriate pickup date and time (note that the return date will automatically set for one year later. You can change this if you like). Pickup and drop off appointment slots are 15 minutes in length. You are only able to choose a pickup date within the next 3 weeks (see terms and conditions). It is of utmost importance that you are on time. If you are early, you will have to wait until your scheduled time. If you are more than 20 minutes late, your appointment will be canceled, and you will have to reschedule for another day. We will send you an email around then to see how it is going. You may keep the equipment for as long as you need it. I will contact you with other date and time options if your original choice is not available.
- Clients will need to read and acknowledge the Terms and Conditions.
- Any financial donations must be done online at https://www.equipforchildren.org/donate.html.
- Pickups will be done “curbside” from the front of the building. At your scheduled time, your equipment will be waiting for you near the main entrance front door (see below). An ECFC staff member will be monitoring the pickup should you need direction. We will not be able to assist you in loading your equipment, so please make the proper arrangements.
- You will receive email notifications with this information after completing your checkout.
