Show Your Pride!!
Ability Alliance and Equipment Connections for Children invite you to join us in celebrating Disability Month with Maryland’s first annual Ability Pride the weekend of July 7-9. We'll be hosting and supporting a variety of events around the region that weekend. We hope you'll join us!
On July 26th, 1990, lawmakers and disability activists came together to enact the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It welcomed a new era in the disability rights movement. Since then, people with disabilities, along with a multitude of allies and advocates, have made great strides in disability justice and equitable access. 33 years on, the fight for equity continues. We hope you’ll join us.
Ability Pride seeks to change the way people see and think about “disability” by celebrating the ability spectrum that each and every one of us is a part of. Join us in breaking down and ending the societal stigma and internalized ableism felt by many in the disability community by celebrating the beauty of human diversity. We all deserve to feel PRIDE!
