Equipment donation program
Through the Equipment Donations Program (EDP), ECFC connects costly adaptive equipment from children with disabilities who outgrow the equipment to other children who need it, at no cost to the families.
Parents of children with disabilities are often overwhelmed with the high cost of adaptive equipment and meeting the changing needs as their child grows. Children with disabilities often require a variety of equipment to perform daily tasks; and as they grow they will need additional equipment. Adaptive equipment is costly and insurance companies frequently do not cover the much-needed items.
Through our Equipment Donation Program, ECFC receives donated equipment such as standing frames, walkers and gait trainers, bath equipment, adaptive bicycles, therapy equipment including swings, bolsters and benches, adaptive seating, and adaptive strollers. These items are cleaned, checked for proper operating condition, and as needed repaired.
The Program Director, a pediatric physical therapist, connects families in need with the correct type of equipment, fits the equipment, and instructs the family on its use. ECFC’s Equipment Donation Program enables children to be more independent, play with friends and siblings, participate in meal and bath times, safely move from their school to their home, change positions with more ease and comfort, and move more often to be healthier, active children.
ECFC serves children with disabilities and their families within Montgomery County and the surrounding DC metro area and actively follows up on equipment donations to ensure proper function; making adjustments when needed as well as maintaining relationships with families as their child grows and their needs change.
If you need this program, check out our current inventory and then fill out the equipment donation form. The family will be contacted by ECFC when the donated equipment becomes available or to set up an appointment to be fitted. Appointments are scheduled for an ECFC " Donation Saturday", held at our facility for families to pick up requested item(s) and have it fitted for their child by ECFC physical therapists.

"This is the second time I requested another stander because he was grown out of the previous one, and needed to find one that his school had recommended. You didn't fail us this time either. We thank you and appreciate all you, and your company do for people like us. You give us hope."
